Careers
The primary function of the department is to help pupils at different stages of their academic life make informed choices about the next stage in their careers, whether it be what GCSEs or AS/A2 Levels to choose, which higher education course to apply to or which occupational direction to pursue. The delivery involves a combination of direct careers advice, guidance and skills teaching by the Careers Department, and indirect careers information through teaching in the normal academic programme and the various extra curricular activities running at the College. Increasingly, pupils are encouraged to relate what they are doing in the College to what they will be doing in their lives afterwards, and various careers ‘tools’ are employed to assist this process. The Careers Library has an extensive range of up-to-date resources and increasing use is being made of internet resources.
Pupils are encouraged to make use of the Careers Library and to seek advice and information from the Head of Careers at any time during their time at Bradfield as they explore the options open to them.
Parents are welcome to visit the Careers Library and use the resources with their sons or daughters, but are asked to make contact with the Head of Careers in advance.
The Head of Careers is available Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm during term time to give advice and guidance to pupils and parents. Contact: careers@bradfieldcollege.org.uk
