Admissions Procedure for Boys and Girls at 16+

Initial visits and Open Mornings

Arrangements for an initial visit to the College and a tour with a Housemistress or Housemaster are made in the Lent or Summer Term of the year prior to entry. Open Mornings for prospective Lower Sixth pupils are held on certain Saturdays during the Michaelmas (Autumn) Term. Bookings for these should be made through the Admissions Office.

Registration

If at any time during this process you wish to place your child on the list for Admission, you should fill in the Provisional Entry Form and return it to the Admissions Office together with the entry fee (non-refundable). This secures a provisional place on the College lists. Admission to the College’s Sixth Form is by Assessment and one of the following if a Scholarship or Award candidate: Academic or Music Scholarship; Dr Gray Bradfield Exhibition; Art; Sports; or Performing Arts Award. Assessments for all of these are held in November prior to the year of entry.

If you have a preference for one particular Senior House for your child, this should be noted on the Provisional Entry Form; otherwise he or she will be put on a central list.

Offer Letter and Final Entry Form

Successful candidates will be sent an Offer Letter and Final Entry Form in early December after the Assessment, Scholarship, Exhibition and Award Days. Pupils enter the Sixth Form at Bradfield College with a minimum of six GCSEs at Grade B or above.  It is expected that pupils have attained good grades in their chosen subjects, or in those studied at GCSE which assess relevant skills. A deposit, currently £600, is payable at this stage and is refunded at the end of your child’s final term at the College.

On acceptance of this offer your child has a Guaranteed Place at the College subject to the Terms and Conditions of Entry and attainment of our minimum entrance requirement. Parents should note that on accepting a Guaranteed Place they become liable for the first term’s fees (see Section 2 of the Terms and Conditions).

Any pupil who applies after the Assessment and Scholarship Days in November, will be required to attend an Assessment Day in the Lent Term, if places are still available.
