Loyd House (A)

Loyd House is a senior boarding house for 55 boys. The resident Housemaster, James Harding (pictured right), is supported by a team of 5 tutors and a resident tutor and Matron, Stephanie Stocks.

The Housemaster, James Harding, read English at Glasgow University, taking his MA Honours degree in 1991.  He went on to Balliol College, Oxford on a Snell Exhibition to research late eighteenth-century poetry.  Deciding that his interests lay in teaching rather than academic research, he left Oxford in 1994 to take up his first full-time teaching post at St John's School, Leatherhead.  In 1999 he took up a post as teacher of English and Theatre Studies at Sutton Valence School, Maidstone.  In 2000 he was made Head of Drama at Sutton Valence. He joined the staff at Bradfield as Head of English in September 2002.  James has been Housemaster of Loyd House since September 2006.  He is currently Master-in-Charge of Clay-pigeon shooting.

Outside Bradfield, his main interests are music, writing, European culture and languages, motoring and cooking.  He is married to Adél who teaches Mathematics in Reading.
