Faulkner’s parents were invited to an online webinar recently with Mr Penny, Deputy Head (Pastoral) to learn more about the support on offer to pupils, with a particular focus on homesickness and anxiety.

Mr Penny introduced the Talking Therapies Team – led by Lucy Willetts, a consultant clinical child and adolescent psychologist, and founder of the Berkshire Child Anxiety Clinic. Parents then met Jemima one of the eight qualified therapists at Bradfield specialising in different areas e.g. CBT, trauma, psychodynamic and integrative therapy. Pupils can self-refer or parents or Housemasters and mistresses can also refer. Each pupil is offered eight sessions in the lower school and eight in the upper school inclusive of fees. There are also drop in sessions for Year 9s twice a week.

Parents found it very useful and were reassured by the large amount of support available to their children.

It was fantastic to hear how much is available for the children when the need arises. It was hugely informative, and I think the idea of all these webinars is brilliant.

Thank you for organising the session, I’m sure all parents who attended appreciated it, and took something away from it, no matter how their children are settling into Faulkner’s. We all know the wobble may come at some time over the next few years, and we certainly feel better prepared, and more comfortable in the knowledge, that you are all there.

More forums on differing topics will follow throughout the year.
