Jeremy Quartermain writes,
“We are very pleased to share the appointment of our new Heads of Year, who will take up their roles from September 2026: Robert Briscoe-Smith (Faulkner’s), Eleanor Sewell (Shell), Charlie Corn (Fifth Form) and Francis Barbuti (Assistant Director of Sixth Form). This is a formidable team of highly accomplished individuals. Our newly appointed Heads of Year will have responsibility for ensuring effective oversight and leadership of their respective year groups. Collectively, these appointments constitute a very significant dimension of our strategic development plans for the future. Our commitment to pursuing excellence is contingent upon ensuring that all our children benefit from an optimal level of support in all aspects of their lives at College. We want them to feel supported, encouraged, and challenged in equal measure. The introduction of Heads of Years is designed to complement the extraordinary work of our fantastic Housemasters and Housemistresses. The team’s ability to focus upon the intellectual and cultural life of specific year groups will help drive forward all aspects of the curriculum.
Working closely together as a team, and line-managed by Camilla Du Boulay, Director of Sixth Form, the Heads of Year will play a key role in the everyday life of the school. They will work alongside tutors, HsMs and teachers to provide joined-up care, clear oversight and thoughtful guidance, helping pupils to flourish both in and beyond the classroom. By embedding these roles firmly within the fabric of Bradfield, we aim to strengthen communication, celebrate achievement, and offer timely support, ensuring that every pupil feels known and well supported as they develop confidence and character, with a growing sense of ambition for their future.”
Camilla Du Boulay writes,
“As incoming Director of Sixth Form, I am very excited about the introduction of these new roles and the opportunities they create for our pupils. Having Heads of Year with clear responsibility for each cohort allows us to sharpen our focus on what each year group needs at different stages of their journey, whether it’s making GCSE choices, embedding independent study skills or thinking ahead to subject and career paths beyond Bradfield. The Heads of Year team will have a common purpose: to lead and encourage all pupils to find the best of themselves during their time at Bradfield. We will work as a group in identifying and developing shared priorities, collaborate on ensuring smooth transitions between year groups and individually to foster a strong sense of growth, belonging and pride within each cohort.”
“I am really looking forward to taking on the role of Head of Year 9 and helping to shape a dynamic, aspirational culture within Faulkner’s. As pupils’ first year at Bradfield, it is a crucial time to set the tone and foundations for them to flourish, both academically and personally, in the years ahead.”
“It is important to build a solid foundation for GCSEs during the year spent in Shell. I am looking forward to fostering a sense of community amongst the year group and supporting the pupils in all that Bradfield has to offer.”
“I’m really looking forward to leading Fifth Form through such a pivotal stage. It’s an exciting opportunity to support students in achieving their GCSE potential, guide purposeful Sixth form choices, and showcase the breadth of our outstanding Sixth Form – academically and through the rich co-curricular life that defines our school.“
“I am really looking forward to becoming Assistant Director of Sixth Form and cannot wait to get started. I connect well with Sixth Form students whether that be in a Politics lesson or on the sports field and I am excited to support the students through an important part of their academic life.“
