Pupils and staff at Bradfield College are celebrating the strongest set of GCSE results in the College’s recent history. We are delighted to share that more than two-thirds (67%) of all GCSEs taken resulted in the award of a grade 9-7 (A*/A equivalent) and 42% of all exams achieved the top grades of 9-8 (A* equivalent).

Bradfield inspires young people to develop a lifelong love of learning within a vibrant and inclusive school community. Our resolutely holistic approach to education offers pupils an extraordinary diversity of co-curricular opportunities, and these opportunities complement the intellectual ambition so apparent in our community.

The pursuit of excellence is the thread that runs through all aspects of school life, and we celebrate the academic success of our pupils alongside success achieved in sports and performing arts. Parents choose Bradfield for the focus and importance given to their child’s personal development. Resilience, endeavour, compassion, curiosity, courage and creativity are attributes that we nurture to encourage them to become rounded and confident young people.

Jeremy Quartermain, Head, commented:

‘I am inordinately proud of these GCSE results, the strongest in the College’s recent history. Our Year 11 pupils have worked exceptionally hard, and they have supported and encouraged one another along the way. The results are testament to the excellent quality of teaching and culture of learning at Bradfield, which enables our pupils to fulfil their potential. The fact that these superb results are achieved by pupils who are excelling in sports, debating, performing arts, music, drama and so many other areas of College life, is quite remarkable. Obviously, today is a day of celebration but these results are just one reflection of the rounded young people who flourish here with us.  We are looking forward to welcoming them into the Sixth Form alongside fifty new students joining Bradfield at this entry point.’

There are plenty of individual successes and examples of outstanding performances.

  • Nine pupils achieved a grade 9 in eight or more subjects
  • Twenty-five pupils achieved six or more results at grade 8 or 9
  • 34 pupils (21%) achieved an average of 8.0 or higher

Eight pupils all achieved an average grade of 8.7 or higher, with Eve C awarded 9s in all her subjects with a 7 in Further Maths.

  • Tara W | 9 grade 9s and 1 grade 8
  • Charlotte K | 11 grade 9s with 1 grade 7
  • Tilly A | 9 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s
  • William P | 9 grade 9s and 1 grade 7

As always, it is the personal stories that move and inspire us. Staff at Bradfield take enormous pride in guiding and supporting our young people and being part of a community that values humility, kindness and intellectual ambition, provides a great platform for success. Our belief that children excel when they are engaged in all aspects of school life is clearly reflected in the strength of these results. It is a formula that works superbly well.

I am extremely happy with my results, and I feel that they are a reflection of the incredible support I have received from my teachers and HSM. I am very excited to start IB in 6th Form and to continue my journey with Bradfield.
