Wildlife Photographer of the Year nominee

April 1, 2019

Congratulations to Gabriel (H) who was shortlisted in the junior section of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition run by the Natural History Museum.

His photo of a female cheetah and her cubs made it to the final round of the competition, an impressive feat given the over 48,000 entries.

Gabriel said that getting the shot was very challenging:

“Driving with my mum and a guide in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania I saw a female cheetah with her cubs over a period of several days. They were usually very elusive, however one morning they decided to climb up a termite mound where the mother scanned the savannah whilst the cubs played relentlessly. Getting a shot of them all together was not easy.”
