Our IB Diploma candidates have once again achieved excellent results, across a wide range of subjects. This was our largest ever cohort, with 56 pupils taking the full Diploma and 2 pupils sitting Diploma certificates. We are delighted that all candidates gained the full Diploma by reaching the requirements in all 6 subjects and by completing the valuable IB Core of Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Action, Service (CAS). Furthermore, 92% of Higher-Level grades were graded 7 to 5 across all subjects (the equivalent to A* to B in A Levels).
18% of pupils achieved 40 points or more, which is above the threshold for even the most competitive universities. Our leavers have received confirmed places at an impressive range of prestigious further education institutions, in both the UK and abroad. International destinations for this year’s IB cohort include IE Madrid, Northeastern, Chapman, and Judson in the US, and the University of Sydney. In the UK, students are heading to St Andrew’s, Edinburgh, Bristol, Bath, Durham, Exeter, Leeds, and many more.
In addition to their academic success, this cohort has thrown themselves into all areas of school life, embodying the IB’s Learner Profile, which strongly aligns to Bradfield’s Education for Life ethos – they are open-minded, inquiring and excellent communicators. These skills have been explicitly built through the nature of the IB Assessment, for instance oracy is developed because the IB routinely includes oral assessment in a range of subjects.
We are proud to be a school that offer both A Levels and the IB, allowing pupils to play to their strengths and choose the route that suits them best. The IB Diploma has opened many doors for our pupils, and we wish them the very best of luck for their next steps.
