BTEC Sport

 

Why Study BTEC Sport?

The BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Sport provides an applied and vocational approach to the study of sport, combining theoretical understanding with practical application. The course develops a comprehensive awareness of the physiological, psychological, and organisational dimensions of sport and exercise.

 

Course Content

The qualification is made up of the following units:

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Wellbeing
  • Professional Development in the Sports Industry

In addition to these compulsory units, you will also study one or a number of optional units, some examples of which include:

  • Sports Leadership
  • Application of Fitness Testing
  • Sports Psychology
  • Practical Sports Performance

You will have the opportunity to apply theoretical principles in real-world contexts, building confidence, communication, and analytical skills highly valued by universities and employers.

Assessment is by a mixture of external examinations, externally-set assignments, and internally-assessed coursework.

The BTEC Sport pathway is well-suited to those aiming for careers or further study in sport science, teaching, coaching, sports therapy, or management within the growing sport and leisure sector.
