24th March 2026
What an amazing day we had just before the Easter holidays when we welcomed almost 120 pupils from our 2027 cohort to Bradfield for a ‘Film in a Day’ experience!
The day began with an introduction into filmmaking, including genres, storylines, different camera angles, and how to use editing software to bring the film to life! Pupils were then able to get to know their peers and have practice at filmmaking by creating a three-shot film, in which they portrayed a story with just three clips.
Now it was time to plan and create their final films using ten shots. Teams decided on a storyline and a genre, as well as a Director, Producer, Writer, Camera Operator and Actors. Alongside their Lower Sixth helpers, the teams travelled far and wide across Bradfield’s campus, into classrooms and onto sports pitches, and collaborated brilliantly with their team members, as well as the pupils, staff and a few pets of the College!
It was a hugely difficult decision for our judges; however, after watching all ten films, the winners were as follows:
Best Motion Picture and Overall Winner: Dog in Danger
Best Performance: Whole cast in Sweet Thieves
Best Technical Achievement: The No-Prep Bandits
Congratulations to all! Thank you to everyone who came along, we hope you all had a fantastic time creating your films and getting to know each other. Not to forget our LVI helpers; without them the day would not be possible, so a huge thank you to every one of them!
See a few moments from the day here!
