Bradfield supporting OSCAR Foundation

April 22, 2018

In October, Bradfield will host a touring girls’ football team from India as the College embarks on a new charitable partnership with the OSCAR Foundation.

The Kick Like A Girl initiative will see 14 talented girls from one of India’s poorest slums travel to the UK for a nationwide tour during which they will play a number of matches, take in some of our nation’s great footballing sights and meet some famous faces along the way.

In preparation for the tour, Bradfield welcomed a number of key members of the OSCAR Foundation including Ashok Rathod, founder of the charity, Maruti Chauhan, foundation football coach and two of the charity’s UK patrons, Lucinda and Ruby Sowerbutts.

Our girls’ 1stXI and boys’ 1stXI football teams took part in a ‘slum style’ coaching session led by Ashok and Maruti before the OSCAR team met with our fundraising leaders who have been busy planning multiple events to help fund the tour.

On the second day of the visit, OSCAR’s representatives shared their experiences with Geography pupils from all year groups as well as hosting some assemblies to share the story of the Foundation.

Bradfield’s OSCAR leaders will be sharing updates on their Instagram page @bradfieldsupportsoscar as they endeavour to raise £5000 to part-fund the tour via their Just Giving fundraising page https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/kicklikeagirlbradfield
