Shell (Year 10) Advertising Challenge

Bradfield Horizons, the College’s Careers Department, is able to help every pupil, whichever direction they choose, and the College is committed to maintaining this level of support.

The College views the preparation of pupils for life beyond school very seriously and introduces them to aspects of careers right from their first year in Faulkner’s.

This process develops naturally during their time at Bradfield through both a formal Careers Programme and the indirect careers education and skills training they receive as part of their normal academic and co-curricular studies. In addition, Bradfield Horizons maintains a well-stocked library, as well as a continually expanding database of information held electronically, which pupils are constantly encouraged to use.

With the competitive world of academia and work that currently exists, the choices pupils make at various stages are very important, from choosing the right GCSEs, A Level or IB subject choices, to higher education courses. The College has a two full time, and one part-time, careers advisors who are always available to advise pupils and parents at any stage.

The College aims to give pupils the information and tools they need to make an informed choice about their future. Pupils are expected to take increasing responsibility for their plans as they progress, especially during the Sixth Form, but help and advice is always on hand if it is needed. Pupils’ individual needs are also acknowledged and appropriate help is given.

Whilst the majority of pupils leaving the College go on to higher education, either directly or after a gap year, there is increasing interest in vocational routes, including apprenticeships, as well as studying overseas – especially North America.
