Bradfield College

Founded in 1850 by Thomas Stevens, and set in its own village amidst unspoilt Berkshire countryside, Bradfield College enjoys a well-established reputation for being one of the country’s leading co-educational, independent schools through its provision of academic excellence and a well-rounded education.

The College welcomes pupils from Britain and overseas; the pupil body numbers approximately 740, comprising 480 boys and 260 girls from 13 to 18 years of age.

Boys and girls enter Bradfield at 13+ and many more join the College’s popular and vibrant Sixth Form. Faulkner’s, a state-of-the-art boarding house, is specially designed to help all girls and boys make a happy and successful transition from prep school (we recruit from more than 70) to senior school; pupils then move into one of 11 senior houses.

We offer an unrivalled sports and activities programme for all our pupils which ensures that every girl and boy has the opportunity to develop valuable skills outside the classroom, wherever their interests lie.

WHY CHOOSE BRADFIELD COLLEGE?

An all-round education

At Bradfield College we do what we are best at - we provide an all-round education for your child. We cultivate their personal development, we provide an excellent academic education and we prepare them for adult life by encouraging them to think for themselves.

In a fast changing world, the nature of education can never stand still. The Bradfield Diploma is an exciting new scheme for Years 10 and 11, which embraces Bradfield’s core values and strengthens the existing bonds between the scholarly, practical and ethical strands of education at Bradfield.

Living the Bradfield Values

Bradfield College is driven by its values. they are embedded in all that we do at the College. You will also see that they form the foundations of the new Bradfield Diploma.

Faulkner’s - our distinctive approach to your child’s first year

The importance of your child’s first year at a senior school cannot be overestimated. Moving up from the security of junior school or possibly encountering boarding or co-education for the first time are all significant challenges for young people. In recognition of this, Bradfield College introduced a junior Boarding House exclusively for the entire Year 9 intake. It is here that we lay firm foundations for the future, so that the confidence of the girls and boys is enhanced as they establish their own identities within the freedom and space of a home environment.

The Bradfield Experience

The Bradfield experience delivers an outstanding academic education, but it goes beyond this. It provides a special quality of opportunity, friendship and experience which is at the heart of everything we do at Bradfield. This Website can only whet your appetite or hint at the myriad of opportunities that Bradfield offers its girls and boys. We would love you to come and see for yourselves.
