Our new day option is launching in September 2026 and will sit alongside our existing day-boarding (the new term for the current day offer which is boarding House based) and boarding options.
In September 2026, pupils entering Faulkner’s (Year 9) and the Lower Sixth will be able to choose between the following three distinctive offerings. From September 2027 the new day option will be open to all year groups, coinciding with the opening of our new Day House.
Transport Routes
From September 2026, we will be running daily transport services which we have based on initial demand from both current and new day and day boarder families. Times of pickup and drop offs for the routes will be announced soon, but we anticipate the first stops leaving at or just after 7:00am. Routes and prices will be reviewed regularly and adjusted according to demand. If you have any questions about the planned transport services please email marketing@bradfieldcollege.org.uk

Frequently Asked Questions
We hope the following FAQs will help to explain how the new day option will be introduced in the academic year 2026-27, and further developed in 2027-28. We will add additional questions in response to feedback from parents and the discussions that we have within the context of the forthcoming parent forum Q&A sessions.
Will those entering Faulkner's on the new day option in 2026 be full members of the house?
Yes. All pupils entering Faulkner’s will be full members of the house. Day pupils will have access to the Common Room facilities study space, but they will not be allocated study desks in a bedroom. The social benefits of bringing the whole year group together as they begin their journey with us are significant and an essential aspect of our Faulkner’s model. Being together serves to enable the formation of enduring friendships across the year group for both day and boarding students.
Will Faulkner’s day pupils become members of our Senior Boarding Houses as they enter Shell in September 2027?
No. Day pupils will become members of the new Day House in September 2027, when pupils in all year groups will be able to join or move to the new day option. The opening of a new house is an exciting moment in any school’s history and we will share news about the name and location of the Day House and who the first Housemaster/mistress will be in the summer term of 2026. The ambition will be for this house to become a highly collegiate and outstandingly competitive force right at the heart of Bradfield’s community.
What will the arrangements be for Lower Sixth Formers electing for the new day option in 2026?
In 2026, any Lower Sixth Formers choosing to become a day student will remain with their current boarding house initially. New sixth formers joining as day students will be allocated a place in one of the boarding houses. In the Upper Sixth, they will become the founding members of the new Day House with all the leadership responsibilities that this will entail.
Why are you limiting access to the new day offering to pupils entering Faulkner’s and the Lower Sixth in 2026?
We are committed to ensuring that the new day offering becomes an outstanding option. Consequently, it is essential that we implement it incrementally, carefully, and with sufficient time to make the infrastructural changes necessary to ensure its sustained success.
Is it your intention to make this option available to all year groups by September 2027?
Yes. Currently, we are minded to introduce the new day fee option for all other year groups in September 2027.
What are the benefits of day-boarding?
‘Boarders who sleep at home’ remains an immensely attractive and convenient option for those families who want their children to benefit from full immersion in the boarding life of our community. We know that the opportunity to eat all meals in College and benefit from study space and occasional overnight stays in the boarding house will continue to be the preferential choice for many of our current and new families.
Will my child be a fully integrated member of the College community if they are a day pupil?
Yes. They will start their journey with us in Faulkner’s and will benefit from becoming members of the newly formed day house as they progress up through the school with access to all areas of the College’s co-curricular and academic life. The day house will compete in all House activities and competitions and have its own name, colour and brand for members to support and feel an affinity to.
Do you intend to introduce additional daily bus routes?
We will be running transport services based on the routes below which are based on current demand. Times of services will be announced soon – with first pickups starting at or just after 07:00am but if you have any questions about the planned transport services please email marketing@bradfieldcollege.org.uk

Will the number of day pupils be capped?
We are committed to ensuring an outstanding quality of experience with a continued emphasis on our strong boarding ethos. As overall pupil numbers are limited due to the capacity of the College, we envisage having in the region of 20-25 day pupils per year group.
What time do day pupils need to be in College each morning?
Daily transport services will arrive at College for 07:50 am (Monday to Saturday) so that pupils with Chapel or Assembly that morning are here on time. Day pupils being dropped off must be in their House by 07:50 on Chapel/Assembly days and by 08:15am on other days.
What time can day pupils leave in the evening?
Pupils travelling on College daily transport will leave at 6:00pm each evening (Monday to Friday). Pupils being collected may leave from 5:00pm after the end of their timetabled study or co-curricular activities.
What type of evening activity can Day pupils access?
Our Day pupils will have access to any structured activity timetabled for after 6.30pm. If they want to remain in College before the activity there will be a supper and supervision charge of £12 per evening. For irregular activities (e.g. rehearsals running up to a play) or compulsory activities (e.g. academic lectures for pupils studying specific subjects or careers events) this charge would be waived.
Parents will be responsible for collecting pupils at the time the activity ends.
Can Day pupils stay after 6:00pm to study?
No. Unless they are attending an activity taking place in the evening and have paid the supper/supervision charge, day pupils must leave College before 6:00pm.
Will there be transport after lessons on a Saturday?
No. Parents will be responsible for the collection of day pupils at the end of lessons or after matches or activities on Saturdays.
Can Day pupils occasionally board overnight at College?
No. Day pupils will not be able to access boarding at the College. There will be no overnight accommodation within the Day House and boarding within the Senior Boarding Houses is for Day Boarders and Boarders only.
Can Day pupils become Day Boarders or Boarders?
Yes, subject to relevant notice period (see Terms and Conditions) and availability of places pupils may move between options at the start of each academic year. We cannot guarantee places in specific boarding houses.
