Like all parents, I want to give my children the best opportunities and experiences life has to offer. I attended a schools fair which, to be honest, was quite overwhelming as I felt that as a lone parent it was all totally out of my league. ‘How on earth can I afford this?’ I said to myself and just wanted to escape. I then pulled myself together and thought ‘just go for it and see what happens’.

I spoke to several lovely school representatives and explained I was a lone parent and that I wasn’t sure a private senior school was something I could afford but they all reassured me and mentioned it was possible with bursarial help.

My son loved Bradfield having attended an Open Day. What an amazing school! Next steps, registering… It was a nervous journey but I wanted the best for my son, took a deep breath and went for it.

My son was offered a scholarship which was absolutely amazing and he was so happy and the next step was having a financial assessment. Working hard but being on a low income, being a lone parent to two young children, being interviewed and taking these
huge steps was quite scary, however, time went past and my son was awarded a bursary which I am eternally grateful for.

I had so many happy tears as I never ever thought I would be able to give my son the opportunity of attending this wonderful school called Bradfield…..Wow, dreams do come true!!

My son absolutely loves Bradfield. He is shining, he is confident and organised, he is surrounded by such lovely teachers, matrons, mentors and friends, he has the best opportunities in life that I could never have given him without bursarial help and above all
he is so, so happy!!!! This has not only changed my son’s life for the better, but it has also changed ours as a family which I am hugely grateful for.

It was extremely difficult for me to reach out for bursarial help, but with the excellent communication with the finance team they reassured me that the process was straight forward and that it was nothing to worry about. They were right!

Sometimes in life we need to take a deep breath, take that first step and ask for help. I’m so glad I did as I didn’t want my son to be held back due to me being on a low income.

The 175th year of giving is a great cause as there are so many pupils who are thriving in school in many ways due to receiving bursary help!

Thank you Bradfield!!!!
