We are delighted to share that Col Ed Hall OBE RM (E 95-00) will be delivering the address for Remembrance Sunday on Sunday 9 November. Col Ed’s biography is below;

Colonel Edward Hall joined the Royal Marines in 2003. After Young Officer training he joined 42 Commando RM deploying to Norway and Afghanistan (HERRICK 5). In 2007, he joined 1st Battalion Princes of Wales’ Royal Regiment based in Germany and deployed to Afghanistan again (HERRICK 8/9) as the second-in-command of the theatre Armoured Infantry Company.

In 2010, he joined the Commander UK Amphibious Forces Headquarters andy, in 2011 on promotion to Major, he completed Initial Command and Staff Course (Land). In 2012, he joined 45 Commando RM as the Operations Officer and subsequently commanded Zulu Company deploying on Exercise BLACK ALLIGATOR in Arizona and CURRY TRAIL in Belize. In 2016, Zulu Company Group deployed as the first forward based Special Purpose Task Group in the Mediterranean held at Very High Readiness for contingency operations in North Africa.

After command, he joined the Middle East team in the Ministry of Defence Operations Directorate and was awarded an MBE in the 2018 New Year Honours List. On promotion to Lieutenant Colonel he attended the Advanced Command and Staff Course and then returned to the Ministry of Defence as SO1 International Counter Terrorism, responsible for overseas counter-terrorism operations and capacity building. In 2020, he was seconded to the Cabinet Office as the Chief of Staff of the Integrated Review Team and joined the Senior Leadership Team responsible for delivering the government’s integrated foreign policy, security and defence review. In 2021, he returned to 45 Commando as Commanding Officer.

In September 2023, he promoted to Colonel and assumed his current role as Assistant Head Joint Capability Plans in the Ministry of Defence. In October 2023, he was awarded an OBE in the Operational Honours and Awards List for his command of 45 Commando.

Remembrance Sunday 2025

Chapel will be open from 10:15 am for the reading of the Roll of Honour and the service starts at 10:45, initially in the chapel before proceeding outside to the war memorial. Following the service families are most welcome to join us for Sunday lunch in the main dining hall.
