Founded as St Andrew’s College, Bradfield the 175th anniversary celebrations are fittingly brought to a close today, St Andrew’s Day. On Friday pupils gathered in Chapel to recognise this key date in the College calendar. Looking back we reflect that 2025 has been a fantastic, and in many ways a record-breaking, year for Bradfield in which we have not only celebrated the many historic achievements of the College since 1850, but also truly rejoiced in successes of current Bradfieldians. Jeremy Quartermain summarises the year…

‘As we approach the conclusion of this, our 175th year, we do so with tremendous excitement towards the future but also a real sense of pride in our illustrious history. In particular I was struck by the incredible talent on display at the 175 Gala performance held in the Greek Theatre back in the Summer term. My goodness, wasn’t it lovely to see some cameo appearances from some much love and long standing members of staff and I think that reflects the kindness and warmth and humour that is hard-wired into the DNA of this wonderful community.

Thank you so much to all of you who donated to the Giving Day appeal because that of itself will enable us to extend the gift of a Bradfield education to an ever-widening group of young people. That is an incredible legacy to have from this year.

Of course, it’s not just the events that have been held this year that have been so successful, the school in its own right has shown that its star is very much in the ascendant with outstanding, record breaking academic results this Summer Term.

We have of course also just come through an ISI inspection very successfully indeed which is a real validation of the hard-work, investment and commitment of staff and pupils.

We look towards the future with a sense of real excitement and what is really important is to use this year as a springboard to leap into the future with a real sense of optimism and confidence

We will be sharing some very exciting plans in due course as we look towards the next decade and beyond in terms of ensuring that the school is in a very strong position moving well into the future.

Thank you very much for your contribution towards ensuring that this year has been such a tremendous success. On a personal level thank all members of staff who have contributed so much towards ensuring that all of us have been able to share in the joy that this year has brought.’
