Palmer House is a senior boarding house of 63 girls. Nicola Armstrong is the Housemistress and is supported by a team of seven tutors, one resident tutor and a Matron, Louisa Kruczko.

Nicola Armstrong

Nicola studied Economics at Durham University before pursuing a career in banking. She spent 11 years in the industry working in both London and Hong Kong. After having her own family, Nicola decided it was time for a change and embarked upon a career in teaching. Educating and working with young people was something that Nicola had always been passionate about since her own, very happy, school days at Queen Anne’s, Caversham.

Nicola joined Bradfield in 2014 as a Maths teacher and during her six years at the College, has derived a huge amount of enjoyment and satisfaction from teaching, tutoring, coaching lacrosse and being a Deputy Housemistress. The Housemistress role is something Nicola has always wanted to do and she is excited by the opportunity to support the girls through such important and formative years.

Nicola is married to Nick and they have two girls, Tilly and Sophie. Nicola enjoys time with her family, loves all sports, enjoys travelling (Asia is very special to her but her happiest place is definitely the South coast of Devon) and is a very enthusiastic cook (especially baking!).

As their Housemistress, I see my role as a guide, encouraging them to challenge themselves in all spheres of Bradfield life and ultimately to become the best version of themselves they can be.

Nicola Armstrong, HsM - Palmer House (I)

“I’d like Palmer to be a home from home for the girls. A place where they can relax and be themselves, where they feel safe and confident to have a go and where they are kind and supportive of one another. I’d like Palmer to nurture an environment where the girls feel confident to show their individualism but are also able to work collaboratively as a team.”
