Jacqueline du Pré Concert - an annual concert featuring our top Scholars.

The music events calendar is a busy one at Bradfield, for pupils both performing and as members of the audience.

There are many in-College music events for our pupils to get involved in, including weekly performance platforms, teacher-led performance classes, House Music Competitions (singing, instrumental, ensemble/band and close harmony), a varied programme of workshops and masterclasses, Open Mic nights and recording sessions.

In addition, there are opportunities throughout the academic year for members of the public to enjoy the hard work, dedication and musical skills of Bradfield’s pupils.

Concerts Open to the Public

Lunchtime Concerts

Two Lunchtime Concerts – one for juniors, one for seniors – take place every week in the Concert Hall.

These concerts are an opportunity for our pupils to perform, with a professional accompanist, to an audience of local residents, pupils, staff and parents. The Junior Concert starts at 12.20pm and the Senior Concert starts at 1.20pm.  Both last for around half an hour.

Please contact music@www.bradfieldcollege.org.uk if you would like to attend as an audience member.

A number of our evening concerts are open for members of the public to attend:

  • Ensemble Concert: a concert given by our chamber ensembles, bands and larger groups in the Concert Hall soon after Long Leave in the Michaelmas Term.
  • Michaelmas Concert: a showcase concert, usually taking place in the first week of December, of some of the best of Bradfield’s choirs, ensembles, smaller groups and soloists performing a range of genres in the Old Gym.
  • Carol Services: the Chapel Choir and Bradfield Brass perform in a number of Carol Services in the last week of the Michaelmas Term for pupils, parents, friends and members of the public.
  • Scholars’ Concert: a varied programme of music performed by our outstanding Music Scholars in the Concert Hall, normally early in the Lent Term.
  • Faulkner’s Concert: a exciting opportunity for the new Faulkner’s cohort to perform together in the Concert Hall.  This usually takes place in the first half of the Lent Term.
  • Academic Musician’s Concert: our Academic Musicians perform their GCSE and A-Level/IB pieces in the Concert Hall, in advance of their exam performance in the second half of the Lent Term.
  • Spring Concert: a showcase concert in the beautiful Reading Town Hall, in the penultimate week of the Lent Term, featuring our flagship ensembles, outstanding chamber musicians/bands and soloists.
  • Jacqueline du Pre Concert: a showcase recital featuring our top Music Scholars in the prestigious Jacqueline du Pre Concert Hall in Oxford.  Usually takes place in the first week of the Summer Term.
