Bradfield has an outstanding reputation for golf and has some of the finest school facilities in the country.

The College is home to a stunning 9 hole golf course, putting green, short game area and outdoor nets. Our indoor swing studio includes two Trackman bays and is the home of our resident PGA professional, Simon McGreal.

We are delighted that the number of pupils playing the game at the College continues to rise. The golf teams continue to play a broad range of fixtures whilst also entering a variety of competitions including the Swifts Foursomes U18 & U15, Swifts Strokeplay at the Berkshire GC, the Micklem Tournament at Woking GC and the West Sussex Schools Invitational at West Sussex GC.

Participation

The number of pupils playing the game at the College continues to increase. Any pupil wanting to join the club does a short trial initially to check they have a basic level of competency and understand the etiquette expected on the course. Pupils are free to use the course in co-curricular time, where their timetables allow. The coaching staff run a number of sessions throughout the week ranging from elite training for squad players to small group coaching sessions for less experienced players. Separate sessions are run for both boys and girls.

Performance

The College has enjoyed strong success in recent years. The 1st team qualified for the regional finals of the Swifts Foursomes in 2025 and 2026 as well as winning the plate competition at the Micklem Tournament in 2024 and 2025.

The Old Bradfieldians were delighted to win the Halford Hewitt for the first time in 2025 with a very strong team that included a number of players who have left the College in recent years.

The Course

The College is home to a picturesque and challenging 9 hole course. It includes a number of exciting par 3 holes, involving significant changes in elevation, and several long sweeping par four holes with numerous mature trees and water hazards as obstacles.

Practice facilities

Outdoor facilities include a putting green and practice bunker, four practice nets and a short game area. Our indoor swing studio provides a superb space where pupils can practice all year round.

Clubhouse

The course has its own clubhouse. This was enlarged and renovated in 2017 and is used by both the club members and the pupils when they host visiting teams.
